Ties That Bind Us – An RNAA Recommended Read

My Thoughts on the Book:

An unexpected story of accepting your flaws and learning to love. None of us is perfect but when you’re taught that your existence doesn’t matter, it’s hard to learn that you can be loved. But that’s what Jaxon tries to teach Cam. While both characters are broken, their shattered pieces fit together well. It’s a wonderful romance with a few steamy scenes and a ton of melt your heart moments. I only had two issues. 1) it’s a cliffhanger. 2) it’s written in dual single POV. But the story is sound and wonderful. A great read! Highly recommend it.

It’s Only Love – An RNAA Recommended Read

My Thoughts on the Book:
After being only one or two pages in, I was immediately struck by the excellent writing quality of this book. There were good character and location descriptions right away. This was really refreshing since so many books seem so rushed these days, and I loved the way the author incorporated sights and sounds to really set the scene and make you feel like you were really in the moment. Well done! This is an expertly written enemies-to-lovers book. If you enjoy that trope, you do not want to miss this one! That happens to be my least favorite trope, but I recognize that as my personal preference and not a knock against this book that was terrifically written. There were times when the hero laughed at the heroine making her feel genuinely humiliated and I found it very hard to forgive him for that, but that is the kind of push-pull kind of friction that many enemies-to-lovers fans will adore. The book was written in dual POV, which did help me understand the hero a little better. As the book went on, it was not hard to love both Dean and Christy and it was easy to root for them to find their HEA. I loved how the author set each scene with the perfect amount of description and how she skillfully developed the romance with nothing rushed, nor did the story lag. Definitely the kind of book that sucks you in and won’t let go!

My Thoughts on the Book:
This was a sweet story about a young widow daring to find love again. Interior designer Lauren falls for her sexy massage therapist, Drew, whose perfect hands help heal her from pain she still suffers from the car accident that took her husband’s life. Despite the relatively heavy subject matter, this was a low angst, sweet story about finding love after loss.

Blind Date With a Book Boyfriend – An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Lila Dawes
Genre: Contemporary Romance Novel
My Thoughts on the Book:
I’m not usually one for novella’s or for insta-love but I really loved this story. This novella is about Jordyn who has come to town for a job interview and decides to pop into a book store where she meets Mike. Over the course of 24-48 hours they discover there’s no one they’d rather be with.

The characters were well developed and the story executed so well that I fell in love with them. Mike was so sweet and Jordyn was a NORMAL woman which I loved, even down to her concerns over getting intimate – I loved that.
The dialogue between the two just felt so natural and had me grinning like a lunatic and laughing and sighing so many times. I also loved that the epilogue gave us a glimpse of life after the initial 24-48 hours, HEA complete!
Loved it and would recommend it to anyone, quick to read and irresistible to enjoy!

Imperfectly Yours – An RNAA Recommended Read

This book has ALL the feels, and the characters – major and minor ones – are all people you want to spend time with. Set against the fun backdrop of a drag club, we meet Jack – a sexy, witty, and wonderful leading man and Ava – strong and independent, yet she’s been burned by love terribly in the past. This is a compelling story with a surprising number of laughs, as well as many moments that will move you to tears. Brimming with humor, heart, and the inspirational idea that everybody wants…and deserves…a second chance – this is one novel you won’t want to miss.

You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me – An RNAA Recommended Read

My Thoughts on the Book:

This book is one of the very first contemporary romances I read and I picked it because the “curvy girl” trope was calling to me, finally a book about someone like me! Neve has been in love with William for years, but he moved away to L.A and hasn’t seen her since she lost a lot of weight. Now he’s coming back and this is her chance to nab her dream man except for one thing, she has no relationship experience. Enter sexy, womanising Max who is the answer to Neve’s problems, he can show her the relationship ropes without her getting attached…right?The book is well written, sweet, funny, sexy and sad, the characters likeable and well developed. The chemistry is delightfully slow burning between our two heroes, none of that insta-love here, thank you! What I love about this book is it’s painful in places seeing what Neve goes through and her internal view of herself but it makes you champion her more. This book tackles body image issues and fat shaming and ultimately self-love and acceptance. A hugely uplifting read 🙂

Dream a Little Dream – An RNAA Recommended Read

My Thoughts on the Book:

This is one of my favourite books that I reread over and over again! It’s so beautifully written and has some fantastic emotional scenes that help you identify with the damaged characters and champion their development and relationship. The heroine, Rachel, is a young, widowed mother with nothing left to lose and in desperate need of a job when she stumbles across our hero, Gabe, who’s painful past has left him cold and broken. The last thing he needs is this beautiful, defensive, sassy mouthed woman and her child invading his life but he needs help renovating the drive-in. Plenty of verbal sparring and heated romance ensues along with an equally intriguing secondary love story which the author does brilliantly. If you love your characters being put through hell and fighting love every step of the way then this is for you! This is part of the Chicago Stars series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Accidental Love – An RNAA Recommended Read

My Thoughts on the Book: As an author myself, I am currently trying to read as many “popular” and “tropy” books right now as I can. I’m still trying to figure out that balance between writing what I love and writing to actually turn a decent profit. As part of that, I’m currently reading a bunch of “fake fiancee” books. I get frustrated with books that seem to be “paint-by-numbers” books that take a popular trope, stick some basic characters in there, and it’s a license to print money.  As much as I might hate it, that tactic WORKS. Fake fiancé books seem to always be successful, no matter the quality of the writing. I picked up Accidental Love and was prepared to dislike it. Then I read the preface and was prepared to hate it. In the first page, it became clear that this book wasn’t just going to capitialize on ONE trope. I counted four. On the FIRST PAGE. Fake fiancé, brother’s best friend, second chance, and secret baby.  I promised myself that I could just skim the pages if I got too annoyed, taking what I learned from the book, and then move on. That proved completely unecessary, as the book sucked me in immediately. Wyatt and Sinclair were utterly engaging characters from the start, and I found myself rooting for them straight away. They were very young when they first fell in love, and then Wyatt went away for ten years to join the military and to escape his abusive family. Sinclair was pregnant but he didn’t know it. Ten years later, he comes back and fake marries Sinclair in order to save the family farm. I give credit to the author for coming up with a more plausible reason for the fake marriage than many others I’ve read. The stipulations were written in the 1800s when it made sense for you to have to be a family to run a family farm. Overall, this was a charming, quite steamy, and engaging read that took me by surprise. It goes to show you that it is possible to use a common trope and create a well-written and entertaining novel. I have no hesitation in recommending this novel as an excellent, romantic read!

Moon Shot – An RNAA Recommended Read

My Thoughts on the Book: This was a steamy, engaging enemies to lovers book. The tension between the “Frenemies to lovers” was sensual and hot without either of them being overly obnoxious which is sometimes the case with the enemies trope. Aerin was somewhat of a bitchy ice queen, but I still found her likable because she had her reasons for being that way. Javi was super hot, likable, and is a doting father. Interestingly, both the hero and heroine were in their forties which was refreshing. This book held my interest from beginning to end and I can recommend it without reservation. Though this is book four in a series, it works perfectly fine as a standalone.

Fake Fiancee – An RNAA Recommended Read

My Thoughts on the Book: I picked up this book because I know the fake fiancee trope is very popular so I was curious to try one. This was an enjoyable story with a sexy college football player and a strong yet wounded heroine. I was pleased to see this book had a good plot that kept me interested beyond just the familiar fake fiancee trope. Sexy, sweet, engaging (pun sorta intended) read.
