Draikana’s Fire – An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by:  Linda Fausnet

Genre: Paranormal Shifter Romance

My Thoughts on the Book:

This is the story of dragon-shifter Daphne Drak who finally finds her mate after thousands of years, and she and Everett must fight to save Daphne’s sister who has been kidnapped by the arch-nemesis of the Drakaina. This was an entirely new author to me.  I don’t read many shifter books, but I did enjoy this one. The worldbuilding was well-done and not complicated, which I liked. I don’t know anything about how the military works, but it felt like the author did because the scenes with the military officers seemed authentic, which was nice. Overall a well-written story and a quick, enjoyable read.

Chasing After Forever – An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Linda Fausnet

Genre: Small town, Contemporary, Billionaire Romance

My Thoughts on the Book:

I’m a sucker for a good “good guy” romance, and this certainly is one! This was the first book I’ve read in this series, and it works perfectly well as a standalone. Liam is a wonderfully dreamy hero (I can’t stand cocky alphas, alphaholes, or bad boys, so I was all about this guy…) Macy is a strong, independent heroine, which I also love. She’s been hurt in the past, which makes it hard for her to trust anyone. I’ve seen the “afraid to love because I’ve been hurt/abandoned” done before, but rarely is it done as well as this book. With other similar stories, I’ve found myself rolling my eyes as the heroine contemplates leaving the perfect guy for no real reason. Here, we feel Macy’s pain and understand her struggles. I also appreciated the way this book didn’t promote the “all small town folk are great and big city people are evil” stereotype. This book was a refreshing read all over. Low on angst, high on heart, I highly recommend Chasing After Forever!

Rocked – An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Linda Fausnet

Romance Genre and /or Romance Subgenre: Romantic Comedy, Friends-to-Lovers, Brother’s Best Friend

My Thoughts on This Book:

This is the second book (but works as a standalone, too) in a series revolving around Woody O’Flanagan’s pub….and male strip club. Rocked is a terrific, cute, funny, and sexy friends to lovers story as well as a forbidden, best friend’s brother romance. It even had a cute surprise twist involving the hero’s family history there toward the end. Seth is sweet and sexy and impossible not to love. I especially liked the way he was a heterosexual stripper but had no problem stripping for the fellas on the pub’s men’s night. The stripper scenes were particularly vivid and entertaining. Looking forward to more in the series!

Whiskey Home – An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Linda Fausnet

Genre: Romantic Suspense

My Thoughts on the Book:

This was a terrific read from beginning to end! It’s filled with suspense, steamy romance, protective heroes, and imparts an emotionally satisfying message about the true meaning of family. There were several times I teared up – in a good way!   Whiskey Home is a wonderful beginning to a new series. No cliffhangers, but plenty of hints as to what’s to come in future books. Highly recommended!

Whisper – An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Maxine Keith

Genre: Dark Romance

My Thoughts on the Book:

This book is not for the weak.

If you need a trigger warning, do not read this book.

But for those of you brave warriors who look evil in the face, and love with your whole heart, this book is a journey.

I’ve been a fan of R.C.Christiansen for a while. I’ve read every book. And I always felt she held back just a little…. Until now.

Whisper is the story I knew she could write. The dark and painful story of three forgotten souls looking for a home. You will hope for them, you will cry for them. You’ll become as angry as Ken, as silent as Cliffy, and as broken as Verna. You’ll hide in the basement with them and dance on the clouds. It’s a story that will leave a scar. But it is the most honest and real book I’ve read.

Ties That Bind Us – An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Maxine Keith

Genre: Contemporary Romance

My Thoughts on the Book:

An unexpected story of accepting your flaws and learning to love. None of us is perfect but when you’re taught that your existence doesn’t matter, it’s hard to learn that you can be loved. But that’s what Jaxon tries to teach Cam. While both characters are broken, their shattered pieces fit together well. It’s a wonderful romance with a few steamy scenes and a ton of melt your heart moments. I only had two issues. 1) it’s a cliffhanger. 2) it’s written in dual single POV. But the story is sound and wonderful. A great read! Highly recommend it.

Duchess Deceived – An RNAA Recommended

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Linda Fausnet
Genre: Historical Fiction, Historical Romance
My Thoughts on the Book:
This book involves the mystery of an unsolved murder, an innocent man accused, and a widowed duchess on the run with her young son. The romance is rather light in this one, taking kind of a backseat to the mystery and adventure. It’s a good historical fiction read, with a clever mystery and strong characters.

The Rough Ride – An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Linda Fausnet
Genre: Romantic Suspense
My Thoughts on the Book:
Romantic suspense with action, adventure, romance and allll the feels.
This is an excellent romantic suspense with strong characters, intrigue, and romance. Nick is adamantly against having children of his own, not wanting to pass down his horrible family history of abuse. Unknown to him, the woman of his dreams has a child that she fears telling him about for fear of how he will react. I love how this book shows Nick coming to terms with his issues and it’s utterly endearing to see how he learns to trust himself while caring for three kids that are suddenly his temporary responsibility when the Nanny gets sick while he is on security detail for a U. S. senator. The romance is tender yet steamy, and there is a suspenseful plot filled with danger and intrigue that includes numerous strong, intelligent military women which I was glad to see. This is a romantic suspense with action, adventure, romance and allll the feels!

By A Thread: An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Linda Fausnet
Genre: Romantic Comedy
My Thoughts on the Book:
This book was much longer than most of the romance novels I read, but the story was well done and rarely dragged despite being nearly 600 pages. I picked this one up because I was curious about the whole “grumpy hero” trope I kept hearing about. Dominic certainly qualifies as grumpy, but I really liked him. I guess grumpy is sort of a gentler version of a bad boy or cocky alpha (both of which are romance heroes I strongly dislike). I’m also not a fan of enemies to lovers which this kind of was, but Ally gave as good as she got from Dominic so this worked for me. I really hate when the heroine turns into a blushing, stammering mess around a cocky jerk and that did NOT happen here. This was a steamy, sexy romance between two strong-willed if stubborn people and I found it highly entertaining. The characters were complex and multi-dimensional, which made this a satisfyingly emotional, funny, sexy read.

It’s Only Love – An RNAA Recommended Read

Romance Novel Addicts Anonymous Book Recommendation by: Linda Fausnet
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Enemies To Lovers
My Thoughts on the Book:
After being only one or two pages in, I was immediately struck by the excellent writing quality of this book. There were good character and location descriptions right away. This was really refreshing since so many books seem so rushed these days, and I loved the way the author incorporated sights and sounds to really set the scene and make you feel like you were really in the moment. Well done! This is an expertly written enemies-to-lovers book. If you enjoy that trope, you do not want to miss this one! That happens to be my least favorite trope, but I recognize that as my personal preference and not a knock against this book that was terrifically written. There were times when the hero laughed at the heroine making her feel genuinely humiliated and I found it very hard to forgive him for that, but that is the kind of push-pull kind of friction that many enemies-to-lovers fans will adore. The book was written in dual POV, which did help me understand the hero a little better. As the book went on, it was not hard to love both Dean and Christy and it was easy to root for them to find their HEA. I loved how the author set each scene with the perfect amount of description and how she skillfully developed the romance with nothing rushed, nor did the story lag. Definitely the kind of book that sucks you in and won’t let go!
