Lauren is a talented musician who writes and performs her own songs – many of which are about him… This is an absolute must-read for fans of Friends to Lovers romance, as well as for anyone who loves a good steamy, page-turning read.

My Thoughts on the Book:

This is one of my favourite books that I reread over and over again! It’s so beautifully written and has some fantastic emotional scenes that help you identify with the damaged characters and champion their development and relationship. The heroine, Rachel, is a young, widowed mother with nothing left to lose and in desperate need of a job when she stumbles across our hero, Gabe, who’s painful past has left him cold and broken. The last thing he needs is this beautiful, defensive, sassy mouthed woman and her child invading his life but he needs help renovating the drive-in. Plenty of verbal sparring and heated romance ensues along with an equally intriguing secondary love story which the author does brilliantly. If you love your characters being put through hell and fighting love every step of the way then this is for you! This is part of the Chicago Stars series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Swinging Strike – An RNAA Recommended Read

My Thoughts on the Book: Swinging Strike is a sports romance with a kind of an Enemies to Lovers vibe. Braxton is a cocky athlete and Cara is in school to be a veterinarian. Full disclosure: I hate hate hate arrogant cocky alphas in the “I’m going to throw my Kindle into ongoing traffic” kind of way. However, that is my personal preference, and I know there are lots of readers who adore a cocky jerk and the give-and-take tension they provide between the hero and heroine. In the beginning, Cara walked into a pole and Braxton kept calling her Pole Girl despite her repeatedly telling him not to. As for me, I’d have been done with the guy after that. But! I did read on and Braxton eventually chilled out and was not a bad guy overall. This book had a good love story and an engaging plot, plus I like the fact that the heroine was in school to be a veterinarian and the author seemed to have done some actual research on the classes and labs one needs for that, which was refreshing. Bottom line, if you love cocky arrogant jerks, you will enjoy this start to finish. If you hate them, stick it out, don’t throw your Kindle, and you’ll probably have a good time anyway. I had no problem rating this book five stars because the author executed the book perfectly – like I said, my hatred of cocky alphas is a personal preference, and the writing was quite good.

Well worth a read, Meet Cute is a fun, smartly written, sexy tale involving a meet cute between a former #1 fangirl and the grown-up sexy version of a former teen star. As a family tragedy intervenes, and they are brought together once again on a professional and very intimate basis.

Their emotional journey is wrought with grief, humor, love, sex and deceit. Thrown in for good measure are some humorous old teen star merchandise and a bit of teenage angst. Ultimately, they must question each others motives, as well as their own, as they contemplate the need to move forward together. A delightful mid-sized romantic novel.

My Thoughts on This Book:

My favorite kind of romance novels are ones that combine steaminess with sweetness. Though rock star Les has his flaws (as any character in a book should!) he wasn’t a jerk. I loved his relationship with his music partner, Evan. This was one of those books that I enjoyed from beginning to the end. Les and Evan were both so endearing and as I read their story, I just couldn’t wait for them to get their HEA. Lots of steamy love scenes, no insta-love, and no arrogant, alpha jerks. Plus, I also think it’s fun to read about characters who are celebrities. This book was five stars all the way for me.
